A review of my talk to Barnstaple Photo Club

Just thought I’d share a review I received for my recent Zoom talk to Barnstaple Photographic Club.

It’s always difficult to gauge reaction over Zoom, so it was nice to receive the following.

Dear John,

Further to the thanks from our Chairman, Pete, last night, on behalf of the committee and all the club members, may I formally thank you very much for your presentation, After the Coal Dust, last night.

There was a cross section of delightful, often poignant, images, presented in an eloquent and easy to listen to manner.

Your honest and engaging presentation, accompanied by a great social commentary, was exceptionally well received.

You interspersed the presentation with some wonderful, true-life anecdotes, which enhanced the evening enormously.

You were very approachable and accommodating regarding member’s questions and there was a very relaxed interaction between yourself and the members.

You were particularly good at not only demonstrating the ‘joys’ of street / urban landscape photography, but you highlighted the pitfalls and potential ‘dangers’ of the genre.

On a personal note, I spent a significant amount of time in and around the Wakefield and Barnsley area when I trained as a teacher at Bretton Hall, and your evening brought back some very fond memories.

I would have no problem at all in recommending you to other photographic clubs.

Thank you again John, and may I wish you and Bridget, much continued success in all your future ventures.

With very best wishes.
